Oracle RAC on VMware Series 2006 planning

Next month we will start preparing to install RHEL 4.2 Nahant on VMware and maybe we will also take a shot at the Sun Solaris 10 and try RAC on it.

I'll also display the ESX typical production ready installations. I will have to re-order by Eval subscription. Then we will also (If I succeed with that I'm on the look out for some decent/affordable servers for my "Garage Server Environment" :-)

We had a decent start on our Windows 2003 10g R2 RAC and I did get lot's of emails and also a few (not to many though) one's who succeeded! That is gratifying indeed :-)

RAC on VMware series Part V published yesterday 15 Dec 2005!

Next year onwards we'll install and run RAC on RHEL 4.2(Nahant). I'll also dedicate an article to a beta product from Quest, it's called spotlight on RAC.

Quest Spotlight on Oracle RAC 10g Release 2 Beta Testing!

Ok like I mentioned before I am participating in testing the beta product for quite some time (and am almost past some nasty issues , well it's beta! What else would you expect!) and it fits kind of well with my Oracle RAC series. I might dedicate an article to it in the series. Maybe if it won't throw those integer overflow errors on my face...

For the meanwhile you can look at this AVI and see it work , I was not able to make it work on the ASM registrations, maybe later.

More later...

"RACing ahead with Oracle on VMware Series" - Part IV Coming up!

This one will be published next week so stay tuned. I've done a successful 2-Node DB Installation with ASM with Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters) on 10g Release 2 for Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition with VMware Workstation/GSX server evaluation version, so it's (in my words) the first such article on the planet and will be available for reading on
DBASupport.com and Databasejournal.com.

Oracle 10G RAC on Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition

Just like the previous one, this one is done as well. Now all I have to do is to upload the step by step print screens on to my gallery. I promise also to put it all on PDF so you all can down load it from my document section on my site.

I am also working on...
  • RHEL 3 Oracle 10g RAC
  • RHEL 4 Oracle 10g RAC
  • SLES 9 Oracle 10g RAC
I think slowly we'll move on to working our way up to the Oracle 10g RAC as the product is here for quite sometime now.

Then we'll try all kinds of scenarios like migrating a 9i single instance to a 9i RAC (or better yet 10g RAC), expand nodes. But most important stuff will be to start running load testing and management tools like
So lot's of fun things to come.

Oracle 9i RAC on Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition

I'm busy setting up the Oracle 9iR2 RAC on Windows 2003 Ent. Edition. (Patience children, we'll do the Redhat and SuSe as well in the coming days). Well I got kind of tired playing around in all kinds of technologies and would want to get back to *my* Oracle :-).

Will edit(this post tomorrow) on the details.

So what will we be needing?

Ok the deal is simple, like a real cluster ought to be. We'll have two instances (well you can go on a create more if you like) but let's just start with the two first.
